Pandemic

I can hear the house shake as the wind blows and crashes into the dirt ridden windows. The cardinals are finally getting fresh air. Us critters have taken a break from the two-feet-apart walks and talks. The shenanigans have stopped— for now. Venice waters flow clear now. Global carbon emissions have dropped the most they have in thirty years.

Coffee has always been a joy but it tastes extra special when it’s the only kick you get all day. It’s the warmest thing you can touch and feel. Without human contact, physical connection can only be made by and with faux suede furniture and the stale air your lungs are quite tired of consuming. The cardinals sing with such glee and content, running out of plastic wrappers and bottle caps to build their nests with.

I hope once we get the all clear, those in control of the large-scale hazardous damage that’s been done to the grand old Mother— that continues to give us life— will understand. I hope a pail tips over in their brains sending messages to their hearts saying “stop.” What’s going on with our species right now— this pandemic no one was prepared for— it’s frightening. However, there’s always a silver lining.

And for once, here in the Windy City, we can look on the brightside because it is finally 50° and sunny today. For the most part, we’ve taken initiative and tried to flatten the curve as a collective. Despite the leader in this country being very much so incompetent, US citizens have made an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.

I am begging the stars and cosmos to help our wretched global emergency. Our Mother is getting weaker and she has begun to fight us back. We need collective, immediate, and unprecedented efforts to bring livelihood and health back to our planet. Back to our dreary lives.
