Thank You for Drawing With Me, Though, 2025
I spent the past few months scanning old childhood drawings and figuring out how to work with archival imagery beyond the image itself. Through the experimentation of recreating childhood images and distorting them with numerous techniques, I've begun a collaboration with my younger self.
The main inspiration of this piece stems from the last photograph I have of my father and I together. I filled in his silhouette using reverse applique with a digital collage of drawings I made while he was still a part of my life. The back of this piece is an image of my old drawing table. I appliqued cut outs of flowers I drew as a child. The process of image transferring onto fabric, embellishing the surface of the piece, and hand sewing its entirety was a tedious process. I connect that laborious process to the yearning for my father's time and care. The making of this piece has allowed me to reclaim what has been lost during his absence.

Sublimation prints of childhood drawings and photos, stick from the tree in front of my childhood home, satin, polyester, cotton batting, cotton yarn, thread.
